What training can I expect?
Initial Induction Training
All staff members are required to complete online mandatory training. These courses include Prevent Duty and Channel Awareness, Online Induction and Common Core Skills and Knowledge, Policies and Procedures and Safeguarding.
We offer a 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid Course which is nationally recognised and fulfils Ofsted requirements. This comprehensive course covers the role of the first aider, assessment of an emergency situation and your actions, CPR, the unconscious casualty, choking, wounds and bleeding, shock, fractures, dislocations and slings, injuries and medical conditions. We run multiple in-house courses throughout the year, and if these dates are not convenient then we can also arrange training with an external provider in your area. This qualification is valid for 3 years.
At our Breakfast and After School Clubs we provide healthy and nutritious snacks for the children. Staff must hold a Food Safety certificate and we offer an online course.
Term Time Induction
If you are working in a breakfast or after school club, you will receive a comprehensive onsite induction with your club manager. This takes place over the first four weeks of employment and covers all you need to know to be successful in your role including health and safety, working with children and how an Energy Kidz site runs.
Holiday Club training
For Holiday Club workers we run a full day training day. These are run in different locations around the country over a few dates. During this day there will be an induction session and staff will be introduced to the various themed activities that are run throughout the holidays, and shown how best to run these sessions during the Holiday Clubs. This is an interactive and fun day, providing a great opportunity to meet other staff and members of your team. Every Holiday Club worker must refresh their training on an annual basis.
There is also a skype training session which you must attend once a year. Throughout the skype session the Holiday club team, will be going through Holiday Club operations and updating staff on any important changes.
In addition to the training above, managers also receive more specific and advanced training. This focusses on the full responsibilities of your role and running a club, how the relevant systems function and how to manage your team. Full support is also given by your line manager.
Local Area Manager Training
As continuing professional development for our Local Area Managers, each school holiday we run a day training in our head office. These training days are hugely beneficial to the Local Area Managers as an opportunity to get together as a team and develop their skills. These are interactive and informative days covering a range of topics relevant to the role such as ‘ Safer Recruitment’, Staff Development and OFSTED.
